I was born in Chile in 1959. Moved to Indiana in 1980. Here I learned the craft of painting. The people, the small towns and the landscape of this beautiful State, inspired my senses and appreciation for this land.
In 1995 I took a four week oil painting workshop. It was the beginning of my new life as a landscape painter. Four weeks changed my life forever. I learned to see and appreciate nature more then ever.
I learned the craft from many good Hoosier painters, from the critics of art gallery owners, who later gave me the opportunity to show and sell my artworks. And of course, by painting hundreds of canvases and doing thousands of sketches, directly from nature and in the studio.
Throughout the years I have participated in many juried shows. My awards range from double best of show, to honor awards to purchase awards. The most important, a purchase award from the Indiana State Museum. My works can be found in many private art collections from United Stated to South America.
I have participated in many plein air painting events, given many workshops, painting demonstrations, talks about my life as a painter and done several murals.
Because of my art I have traveled to many places. From painting the harbors and lobster boats of Maine, to the enchanting southwest, to the white beaches of Florida. Always looking for new challenges and subject matter.
Recently my wife and I decided to move to Dunedin, Florida.
Nature is constantly challenging my senses and I know this is like a romance that will never end.
I am a painter who is constantly looking for the "poetry" in life. My goal is to find the inspiration in nature and to translate what I see into my artwork. And of course transport the viewer into my vision.
