"Braking Waves" (Acrylics)
I was born in Chile and in the late 70’s I moved to United States. Here I learned the craft of painting. The people, the small towns and the landscape of the beautiful State of Indiana. , inspired my senses and appreciation for this land.
It was in the mid-90s when I took my first oil painting workshop. It was the beginning of my new life as a landscape painter. Four weeks changed my life forever. I learned to see and appreciate nature more than ever.
I learned the craft from many good Hoosier painters, from the critics of art gallery owners, who later gave me the opportunity to show and sell my artworks. And of course, by painting hundreds of canvases and doing thousands of sketches, directly from nature and in the studio.
Throughout the years, I have participated in many juried shows. My awards range from double best of show to honor awards, to purchase awards. Most importantly, a purchase award from the Indiana State Museum. My works can be found in many private art collections from the United States to South America.
I have participated in many plein air painting events, given many workshops, painting demonstrations, talks about my life as a painter and done several murals.
Because of my art, I have traveled to many places. Here in the USA, from the Midwest to painting the harbors and lobster boats of Maine, to the enchanting southwest, to the white beaches of Florida. And of course South America, to the Chiloe region of Chile, where the Andes mountains disappear into the Pacific Ocean..
Nature is constantly challenging my senses, and I know this is like a romance that will never end. Watercolor paintings, Beginners, and 55+ art classes. Plein air classes from the Gulf of Mexico, Artist, art instructor, and motivator
Now at my age of 65, I find myself devoting my time to teaching and starting my own new YouTube channel, SeniorArtStrokes. Here I can share my painting knowledge I have acquired for the last three decades as an artist. My objective is to help seniors and beginners to start sketching. For me is a way to give back and to say “Thank You Life”, for this beautiful journey!
I am a painter constantly looking for the "poetry" in life. My goal is to find inspiration in nature, translate what I see into my artwork, and, of course, transport the viewer into my vision.
I intend to help and motivate people interested in creating art by focusing on seeing the beautiful side of life. And to incentivize retirees to learn this craft to enrich their retirement life. This is why I created a YouTube drawing tutorial channel, SeniorArtStrokes.
